PARENT & CHILD
WATER ADJUSTMENT:

(Ages 6 months - 4 years)

Children at this level require the presence of a familiar adult during lessons. This class is for children who have no prior water experience, are unable or reluctant to submerge, or are fearful in the water.

PARENT & CHILD AQUATICS
TINY-TOTS LEVEL B:

“Continued Water Adjustment”
(Ages 18 months - 5 years)

Must have 2 previous sessions of Water Adjustment (Level A) and would still benefit from the presence of a familiar adult during lessons. This class is for children who are reluctant to submerge or are fearful in the water.

LEVEL I
INTRODUCTION TO WATER SKILLS
STUDENTS WILL:

Submerge head under water
Blow bubbles
Open eyes, recover submerged object
Float on stomach
Recover from front float to standing position
Float on back
Recover from back float to standing position
Develop basic flutter kick
Develop basic arm movement
Develop basic crawl stroke for five feet

FUNDAMENTAL AQUATIC SKILLS
STUDENTS WILL:

Enter water by jumping in from the side of pool
Review and improve front and back floating skills
Review and improve kicking skills
Review and improve arm stroke skills
Review and improve basic crawl stroke
Develop basic backstroke
Move in water wearing a life jacket

Develop rotary breathing skills
Review and improve crawl stroke skills
Review and improve backstroke skills
Survival Float

Develop basic butterfly stroke skills

STROKE IMPROVEMENT
STUDENTS WILL:

Review and improve crawl stroke skills
Develop elementary backstroke skills
Review and improve backstroke skills
Review and improve butterfly stroke skills
Develop sidestroke skills
Develop breast stroke skills
Develop basic turning skills for competitive swimming

LEVEL V
STROKE REFINEMENT
STUDENTS WILL:

Review and improve six previously learned strokes
Develop flip turn(s) for competitive strokes
Perform surface dives
Tread water with two different kicks
Develop survival swimming skills
Develop rescue breathing skills

LEVEL VI
SWIMMING AND SKILL PROFICIENCY

Refines all six strokes so students swim with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Level VI offers several options that focus on preparing students to participate in more advanced courses, such as Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Training and competitive swimming.

Options: Personal Water Safety, Lifeguard Readiness and Fitness Swimming.

LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION
Participants must be at least 15 years of age and pass several prerequisite swimming skill tests. For a full list of Lifeguard Certification requirements click here.
